Byzantium [REVIEW]

My story can never be told – Eleanor

Neil Jordan is best known to horror fans as the director of the genre classic Interview With The Vampire. I watched his latest horror venture Byzantium and I was blown away. This is the kind of vampire movie that horror fans want. Not the kind of film made to cash in on the Twilight craze. At turns gory, inventive, beautiful, sad and perfectly acted.

The film tells the story of two vampires on the run who find a small seaside town and what they think is a safe haven. Eleanor (Saoirse Ronan) is a soft quiet young girl and her ‘sister’ Clara (Gemma Arterton) is beautiful and dangerous. When Eleanor meets Frank (Caleb Landry Jones) their lives become far more complicated.

I won’t go into much plot beyond that since it was truly fantastic to watch the plot unfold. But it is definitely one of the best horror flicks of the year. A perfect combination of blood and grace.
